Messaging and connecting

How messages, winks, likes and meets work - and how to stay in control.

Messages

Your active conversations live in your Messages list, and new messages are highlighted until you open them. To start a new conversation, open a member's profile and choose Send Message. Replying to a message someone sent you is always free; starting a new message requires a premium membership. You can hide a conversation without deleting it - deleted conversations can't be recovered.

Quick ways to say hello

Wink

A quick, friendly hello without writing a full message.

Like

Tell another member you like their photo.

Meet

Say you'd like to meet. When two members send each other a meet, it's a mutual match.

You'll get an email and an in-site notification whenever someone winks, likes or sends you a meet. A message still makes the strongest impression - it shows you took the time. Replying to any of these with a message requires a premium membership.

Notifications

When another member contacts you, we send a notification to your real email address. You control which notifications you receive from your account settings (important account notices, like a photo or content review, are always sent).

Blocking a member

You can block a member from their profile, from an open conversation, or from your blocked-members page. A blocked member can't contact you or find you in search, and you can unblock anyone from that page.

Etiquette and safety

Don't share your real email address or other personal details until you've confirmed who you're talking to, and treat other members with the respect you'd expect in person. If anyone spams or harasses you, report them from the Contact page.

Common questions

Does anyone read my messages?
As a rule, no. We only review message content in connection with a legitimate investigation - a subpoena, harassment, illegal activity, or a clear terms violation.
Your notification emails go to my spam folder. How do I fix it?
Mark one of our emails as "Not Spam" and add our sending address to your contacts or safe-sender list so future emails reach your inbox.
